DESCRIPTION:
The Morfinas are a set of two bronze doorhandles.  They find two typological precedents: the door handles of Salvador Dali and Antoni Gaudi.  The Morfinas are named in reference to a post-impressionist Catalan painting titled 'La Morfina' by Santiago Rusinol painted in 1894.
Cast from rapid prototyped SLA photoresin into polished bronze silicate, the 'Morfinas' pair new techniques with a timeless material. Commonwealth's 'Morfinas' could formally be characterized as expressions of delight in voluptuous form, and yet also they function simply as two door pulls when installed with their 3/8" screw attachments to a door. They are intended to be gripped, pulled, and above all, to sensuously fit the hand.
Sold as a pair.
