DESCRIPTION:
Acciaio Series is a collection of three lightweight chairs, inspired by the classic racing bicycle. The chairs are hand made from specialized steel bicycle tubes, using fillet brazing techniques from the framebuilding craft. The results are strikingly strong and light. The series includes a stool, dining chair, and lounge chair. The seating surface on all three is a perforated sandwich of leather and aluminum: light, comfortable and slightly flexible. Acciaio (ah - cha’- yo) is Italian for ‘steel’ and is the namesake for the series because it is the material which makes the light structure possible and in honor of Italy, where the most sought after version of bicycle steel is produced. Each of the sixteen color options are named after a classic bicycle builder.
